Posted by VPON Marketing on 2011/07/29

Formosa Plastics Group (http://www.fpg.com.tw/html/eng/org.htm) is now the largest private enterprise in Taiwan. With over 40 years of development, the Group includes Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corporation, Formosa Petrochemical Corporation, and more than 20 other investments in Taiwan, United States, China, and Indonesia, in addition to several large educational and medical organizations.

Formosa Plastics Transport Corporation  (http://www.fpg.com.tw/html/com/fptc/fptc.htm) was established in 1964, invested by Formosa Plastics Corporation, Nan Ya Plastics Corporation and Formosa Chemicals and Fibre Corporation. In the initial investment, it was purchased 10 twelve-ton trucks to fulfill the enterprise product transportation demand. At present, the whole fleet scale already exceeds 1,500, which is the national 11th big transportation company.

In order to upgrade her Fleet Management System, VPON VP-5004 mobile DVR was installed on the oil tank truck fleets.

Day Playback with Vehicle Information

1st level of integration and 2nd level of integration was successfully applied. To provide real-time remote video surveillance through 3G/GPRS network among the trucks and control center. Each VP-5004 mobile DVR can connect to 4 cameras. The control center can see at real-time camera videos on the truck by a simple click. The e-Map on the monitoring screen can shows locations of the trucks. The function of camera feeds + location map, gives the managers much more information compare to traditional GPS tracking system which provides trucks location only.

Faced with an emergency or accident, the manager at the center can see what is happening on the truck and take proper actions immediately, and the driver have the recorded video to clarify the accident responsibilities.

VP-5004 was certified MIL-STD-810F-514.5C3 vibration resistance to work on tough pavements. In the case of a traffic accident, VP-5004 keeps working for a predefined period, even when the truck engine is turned off.  This is  a useful feature in vehicle surveillance.

Night Playback with Vehicle Information

SecuTrack central monitoring software, which is installed on the central control room, can work with multiple VP-5004 mobile DVR machines over 3G / GPRS communication network to track the locations of the trucks on the GPS map. The main screen shows the status of the DVR machines that are currently connected and the e-Map of trucks location with selected camera live views.

After installing our VP-5004 mobile DVR, the video acted as proof, to check which side had the responsibility in the accident. This resulted in dropping considerably (22% to 8.5%) the cases in which FPT (Formosa Plastic Transportation)  had to assume the responsibility and pay for the damages in the accident. From 47 cases in half of this year, with the help of our Mobile DVR, FPT could prove in 43 cases that the accident was caused by the other side. FPT was able to save huge amount of money, which justifies the investment they made in adquiring our VP-5004 Mobile DVR.

FPT also informed us that they were able to control and correct the behaviour of their drivers. Since smoking is absolutely banned in Petrol Trucks, FPT was able to catch those driver that didn’t follow the rules.

To summarize,  the vehicles are important and very valuable assests for any transportation company, protecting them with a mobile DVR is nowadays a NECESSITY, NOT A LUXURY anymore.

Project BabyCare – [Portugal]

Posted by VPON Marketing on 2008/10/07

The Institution

Dr. Alfredo da Costa Maternity is an institution which was founded in 1932, where there were born more than  600,000 babies and is dedicated to providing care with a high level of differentiation, to children born in the institution or to all entrusted by other hospitals.

The Challenge

The Pediatric Unit has 50 beds for special care and a team of medical professionals and nurses that provide 24 hour care on all newborns. Each year the institution receives about four hundred premature babies, from many different parts of the country and spend on average ten days in the incubator room of intensive care and sometimes several months. To enable parents a constant contact with their children has become a target of Maternity, as an addition to regular visits and allowing them to see their babies whenever they wanted to from the comfort of their homes.

The Solution

The project Babycare, started in February 2000 with the provision of 12 video surveillance cameras installed in the intensive care room for newborns, linked to a ISDN videocodec which in turn is connected to a digital ISDN phone line.
There will be an ISDN line and a video communication equipment connected to a TV which is installed in the parents’ house. The parents have only to dial a phone number to gain access to the Maternity which does not interfere with the normal operation of the phone and the cost of the video call is like a normal call.
This system will still be available to users who do not have a computer with internet access.

In June 2008, with the commissioning of a new care room in the maternity the number of video surveillance cameras
increased to 30. At the same time, there are installed video servers which allow access to the Internet and also to the existing ISDN line. Thus parents are able to see their children by using a computer with Internet access and an internet browser wherever they are, 24 hours a day.
The realtime access is via ADSL, which allows faster access, better compression and superior quality of images  obtained in the process.

A solution customized by Visus Vídeo, was the creation of a gateway to the two servers and an user interface designed to provide protection exclusively to the parents of each baby who is assigned an authentication code and password associated with their incubator.
The whole system is connected to a central matrix of video that receives video signals from each of the chambers incubator, in which a small LCD display is installed for tuning the positioning and focus of the cameras. A multiplexer and a monitor are placed with the nursing team to provide constant monitoring of each baby /
incubator.

VPON – VP400 SERIES
Video Server with LINUX Multiplex Technology for high performance Digital Video Recorder PC-based and Integrated Web Server.
The capture and video compression for a fast transmission is made to the computer via a 10/100BaseT Ethernet port with RJ45 connection, making use of the function of Streaming Video on the Web or the LAN through TCPIP (Intranet) or the Remote Access (Internet) through the browser. Supports up to 16 Video entries and one Audio with a  processing speed of 400FPS and 100FPS Recording. Records, plays, backsup and allows viewing video simultaneously so users can write data to an external disk or backup to CDRW.

Choosing OptiVisus as partner to implement the system’s Internet access BabyCare, is due to the positive experience in various projects for video surveillance over the years, as well as their technical expertise and provision of  equipment”  by Turrion Leite (Enginner) from Portugal Telecom.

Turrion Leite (Engineer) from Portugal Telecom and José Câmara (Business Manager) from Optivisus.

The project Babycare, designed and implemented responsibility by Turrion Leite (Enginner) from Portugal Telecom is a pioneer project in the world, widely recognized in Portugal and abroad and is the result of a protocol between the
Maternity Dr. Alfredo da Costa (MAC) and Portugal Telecom Foundation. Functioning since 2000 in the MAC, it also be installed soon in the Júlio Dinis Maternity Hospital in Porto.
